Justin Davis, 21, and Barrington Gray, 33, both of Amityville, were arrested around 10:35 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, following the thefts, and an attack at the Staples store in Levittown, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the two men attempted to leave the store with unpaid-for merchandise which included a printer and an office chair.
After being confronted by the store manager, the 41-year-old female was struck in the head with printer box causing her to sustain a minor head injury, police said.
After dropping the printer on the ground, both subjects were then seen entering a gray Mitsubishi with the chair and fleeing the parking lot.
After receiving a 911 call of the incident, police sent out a notification to area units and a short time later the vehicle was located driving on Hempstead Turnpike.
After following the vehicle onto an entrance ramp of the Southern State Parkway, both Davis and Gray stopped, jumped out of the car and fled on foot.
Gray, the passenger of the vehicle, was caught and arrested. While attempting to place Davis into custody, he struck the arresting officer causing him to sustain a laceration to his ear.
He again fled and was eventually placed into custody by assisting officers who located him nearby.
Davis was charged with robbery, assault and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Gray was charged with robbery.
Both were held and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, April 15.
